What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where teams collaborate intensively on ​software or hardware projects within short timeframe.

Am I eligible to participate?

This hackathon is open to all girls who:

  • Reside in the Caribbean region
  • Are enrolled in a high school at grades 9-13

What if I don’t code?

There are many ways to participate in a hackathon, even if you don’t ​code. You can contribute through design, project management and ​other roles. Plus each team get access to lessons and a mentor to ​help prepare your team for the hackathon.

Ho​w do I register my school?

Each schools can register their teams of 3-5 girls plus a staff advisor ​by completing the registration form.

Wh​at are the judging criteria?

Submissions will be judged on technical execution, potential impact, ​creativity and quality of presentation. See Hackathon Guide for the ​more details.

Why is this hackathon only for girls?


Research shows that women only represent 28% of STEM workforce ​in the Caribbean. Our programming takes a gender-specific approach, ​ensuring girls remain the main participants.
